Alocasia baginda 'Silver Dragon'

Light: Bright, indirect light is best, an east or west facing window works best. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the delicate leaves.

Water:  Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Keep the soil lightly moist but never soggy, and make sure the pot drains well to prevent root rot. Alocasia can be switched over to hydroponics however!

Humidity: It enjoys moderate to higher humidity, ideally between 60% to 80%. We suggest using a humidifier, greenhouse cabinet, or even just a pebble tray underneath.

Temperature: Keep it warm, ideally around 65–85°F. Protect it from cold drafts and sudden temperature drops to prevent dormancy.

Growth Tip: Alocasia are known for spider mites, unless they are hydroponic! Our team has had a lot of personal success with using pon for them as a substitute for soil.

Why we love it: Unlike many of the typical Alocasia people are familiar with, the Elephant Ear, the Silver Dragon is an unusually compact variety with its metallic, scale-like leaves. They grow beneath the tree canopy in the rainforests of Borneo!
